BELFAST — Belfast Chapter 1434 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host its 3rd Annual Airport Open House and Lobster Fly In on Saturday September 16 (rain date: Sunday, September 17) from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Belfast Municipal Airport on Wright Brothers Dr.

We are doing this to showcase to the public the value of their local airport and the many ways it serves their community.

Many aviation related community service organizations will be represented such as Patient Airlift Services, LifeFlight of Maine, local Search and Rescue and others.

Breakfast is from 7:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and it includes eggs, pancakes, bacon, juice, and coffee, all for $7. Food trucks will be there all day. Airplanes from throughout the U.S. will be flying in, including many homebuilt aircraft. There will also be static displays of aircraft from LifeFlight of Maine, athenahealth and the Maine Forest Service. Additionally, helicopter rides (for a fee) and free, Young Eagle, airplane rides for kids ages 8 – 17 will be offered. Admission is free.

In the last two years, over 50 airplanes from as far away as Kentucky flew in and over 400 pounds of lobsters were flown home. We are expecting a larger turnout this year.
