ROCKPORT — Beatrice P. Halligan, 95, died May 18, 2016, at the Sussman House in Rockport. Born in Malden, Mass., on May 24, 1920, she was the daughter of Carl Samuel Page and Constance (Berry) Page. She was a graduate of Melrose High School in Melrose, Mass. As a child, Bea summered with her family in Southport.

In 1945, Bea married Roland F. Blaisdell II, settling in Rockport to start their family.

Through the 1960s and 1970s, her professional career focused on real estate sales and appraisals; she was associated with the Allen Agency in Camden, and then later with Gilbert C. Laite Real Estate agency in Rockport.

In 1977, she married Harold "Hap" Halligan. Bea and Hap enjoyed 27 years together at Second Wind, their home overlooking Rockport's Indian Island lighthouse and Penobscot Bay.

Bea was a long-time communicant at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Camden, where she served on the vestry and was the first female junior warden. An avid golfer in her retirement years, she was a member of Megunticook Golf Club. Because of her love for animals, she became a volunteer at the former Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League, now P.A.W.S.

Along with golfing, Bea's hobbies included knitting, reading, shooting pool, solving crossword puzzles and spending time in her flower gardens.

Bea is survived by her children, Suzanne Blaisdell Thomas and her husband, Stephen, of Lincolnville, Roland Blaisdell and his wife, Vicki, of Missouri, and Sarah Janeway of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Thomas Gindel and her husband, Jason, of Hope, Emily Thomas of Cushing and Katherine Cosgrove of Washington, D.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Stephen Lee Smith of Camden, Jacob Thomas Smith of Hope and Cody Blackington of Cushing.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St. in Camden. Private family interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

If desired, memorial gifts may be made in her memory to P.A.W.S., P.O. Box 707, Rockport, ME 04856.
