ISLESBORO AND VICTORVILLE, CALIF. — Barbara Jeanne Fairfield-Conner, 60, of Islesboro, Maine and Victorville, California, passed away from natural causes in her sleep on September 5, 2017. Barbara was born on October 29, 1956, in Morocco, North Africa, to Frank Fernald Fairfield and Jeanne Fowler Fairfield, following a harrowing ambulance ride through the desert. Her father was stationed there with the United States Air Force. While growing up, Barb traveled the world from Morocco to Virginia to Alaska to Hawaii and Maryland, always returning to Islesboro for summer vacations.

Barbara loved to travel to her family home on Islesboro, an island off the coast of Maine; and was able to be in that home last summer for the last days of her father's life.

Barbara was predeceased by her mother, Jeanne Fowler Fairfield (1972), her father, Frank Fernald Fairfield (2016), her beloved uncle, Paul Darryl Fairfield (2014) and her grandparents. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bradley Conner; sons, Douglas Scott and Jonathon Scott; sisters, Diane Rolerson and husband Ace and Kellie Coombs and husband Mike; uncle, Martin Fowler and wife Kris; nieces Andrea Cross and husband Caleb and Hannah Flanagan and husband Ryan; nephew Cory Ober, and cousins Betsy Fairfield, Melanie Fairfield, Heather Long and husband Dean and Michael Fairfield and wife Tina.

Barbara's heart was always open to adopt and care for any animals in need. Once, when she was in grade school, she climbed into a trash bin to rescue a kitten, which she wrapped up with a brand-new sweater for the trip to her house. When she passed away, she left seven dogs and five cats. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barb's memory to PAWS Animal Shelter, PO Box 707, Rockport, Maine 04856.

A graveside service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Greenwood Cemetery behind the Free Will Baptist Church (up-Island on Church Turn Road.) As Barb's favorite color was purple, feel free to wear that in her honor.
