CAMDEN — Barbara Ann Patnode Thompson, 88, of Camden, passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2017, at the Sussman House in Rockport, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Boston, Mass. She was the daughter of Beulah Washburn Weissbach and Forrest Ivan Patnode.

She was predeceased by her son, Philip John; and her great-grandson Tyler Sawyer. She is survived by her daughters, Janice and her husband, William Mears, of Haverhill, Mass, Susan and her husband, William O'Brien, of Owls Head, Elizabeth and her husband, Donald Fowles, of Rockland, and Anne and her husband, Alan Dow, of Westbrook. She is also survived by her grandsons, William Mears, and Christopher Fowles and his wife, Pam; her granddaughters, Amie and her husband, Travis Sawyer, Jennifer Esdale, and Alexis Lebel and her partner, Richard Martin; as well as nine great-grandchildren.

As a young woman she was an avid dancer and roller skater, appearing in many shows in Boston. She loved cooking, knitting, reading and taking care of her family. She moved to Maine in 1971 and stayed until her passing.

Per her wishes, a private ceremony will be held by her family in the spring.
