Artists: Submission deadline approaching for CMCA Biennial Exhibition

Sat, 03/17/2018 - 10:15pm

If you are an artist with ties to Maine, the deadline to submit to the Center for Maine Contemporary Art's 2018 Biennial Exhibition is approaching. Submissions will be accepted online through the CMCA website (cmcanow.org) until 11:59 p.m. on April 2.

The CMCA Biennial dates back to 1978 and is the longest running open juried competition in the state. Artists at all stages of their career who have a strong connection to Maine are eligible to apply. Works in all mediums, created in the past two years, are accepted for review by jurors Kate Green, Guest Director, Marfa Contemporary, Marfa, Texas, and Robin K. Williams, Ford Curatorial Fellow, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Detroit, Michigan.

Submission to the 2018 CMCA Biennial is free of charge thanks to the support of First National Bank.

"CMCA is committed to continuing its longstanding practice of holding an open juried Biennial," said CMCA director Suzette McAvoy, in a news release. "We have a terrific jury this year with Kate and Robin, and we are eager to see their choices and discoveries among the applicants. It is always exciting to see the broad range of art being made today and to share it with our audience."
