CAMDEN — Arline Quinn Heline, 84, died peacefully on September 7, 2017 in hospice care in Camden.

Born on October 6, 1932, she died one month short of her 85th birthday.

Arline grew up on Eagle Island, the ancestrial home of the Quinn family and started school there. The family moved to Camden in 1942. She shared many fond memories of her growing up on the island; attending the one room school house, her beloved grandmother, Hattie Quinn, and the rich history of her unique childhood.

After graduating from Camden High School Class of 1950, Arline married Doug Heline. They moved to Nantucket, Massachusetts, where they lived for five years, had two children, then moved back to Camden.

In 1969, Arline began a career in retail sales traveling throughout New England as a sales manager supervisor for the Mammoth Mart Company.

In the 1980's, she returned to Midcoast Maine working as a bookkeeper and receptionist at Jeff's Marine in Thomaston. Arline developed a keen interest and proficiency in computer technology. Arline also worked developing film and managing a photo store in Belfast before a position in camera sales in the photography department at Wal-Mart.

Her interests in photo imagery, computer skills and artistic nature led her to designing and producing Quinn family calendars including births, deaths, of several generations, from her photos from Eagle Island. This project encouraged Arline to research seven generations of Quinn family genealogy.

Arline also created personalized greeting cards with original art and verse, templates of photos of family homes, portraits, then cross-stitched onto hand-crocheted panels for award-winning afghans and wall hangings.

Her artistic talents were evident in many mediums, painting with watercolor and oils, wood carving, boat models, crewel embroidery. Always busy with producing and creating, Arline's gifts to family, friends, and community will have an abundance of art to remember her by.

Very active in Camden High School Alumni Association, Arline kept records, group photos, made announcements, and always attended meetings. Her commitment to this organization was very important to her. Arline appreciated the support she received from her Camden friends during these later years.

Surviving is her aunt, Barbara Pruitt, of Rockport; two children, Wendy Sewall, of Deer Isle; Chris Heline, and his wife, Kaylene of Dalton, Ohio; grandson, Devin and his wife, Tiffany Avery of Washington; brother, Robert Quinn and his wife, Helene of Eagle Island; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A private gathering will be held this fall in Camden for family and friends and on Eagle Island in the spring where she will be interred in the family cemetery.

Condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
