CUSHING — Arlene A. Ross, 89, of Union, died at the Cushing Homestead in Cushing on January 5, 2018. Arlene was born July 13, 1928 in Union to Lennie S. Burns and Marion Thurston Burns. She grew up in Union and graduated from Union High School class of 1947.

Arlene worked at Gordon's Market in Union for many years as a sales clerk in the hardware department. She was also a homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, bowling, tennis, and playing games. She was a member of a local Hook Rug Club in Hope. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Union, and attended the Sampson City Church of God in Starke, Florida. Arlene was well known for being a happy woman, and for her extraordinary homemade biscuits.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph L. Mank; infant daughter Rosemary Mank; second husband, Douglas J. Ross; brothers, Chester A. Burns, Keith Burns, and Reginald Burns.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Overlock and her husband Roger of Benton,ME;

Virginia Flood and her husband Lee of Belfast, ME; Sister, Arabelle Davoll and her husband Ernest of Rochester, MA ; Grandson, Matthew Elwell and his wife Ashley of Union , ME. Granddaughter, Raquel Willson and her husband Aaron of Limington, ME.

Ten great grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate Arlene's life will be held at the East Union Cemetery in Union to be announced.
