The Belfast Garden Club will award two scholarships of $2,500 each to graduating high school seniors or current students preparing for careers in fields linked to the mission of the garden club. These include horticulture, forestry, conservation biology, sustainable agriculture and other related areas. The deadline for application is April 1. The application form and instructions are on the Belfast Garden Club’s website at belfastgardenclub.org. 

The club has also voted to give out a new “campership.” It will donate $500 to Tanglewood 4-H Camp to help a camper from Waldo County with financial need. 

In past years, the club has awarded two $1,000 scholarships. The increased amount for the 2018-19 school year, and the campership, are possible due to support for the club from the people of the Belfast community. The club maintains a dozen gardens in the city and sponsors open garden tours throughout the summer.
