WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tomorrow, Friday, April 15, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) will deliver remarks at the 19th Annual Maine Pain Symposium in Northport. Senator King's remarks at the symposium, which is entitled "Palliative Care & Pain Management: A Responsibility to Do Better", will focus on the role that doctors and other care providers can play in fighting the state's opioid and heroin epidemics while still effectively managing pain for patients.

Before speaking, Senator King will also visit and tour two storied Maine shipyards — Washburn & Doughty Shipyard and Boothbay Harbor Shipyard — where he will discuss the importance of the maritime industry and marine trades to Maine's economy. Senator King recently wrote to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development to express his strong support and urge robust funding for the U.S. Maritime Administration's Small Shipyard Grant Program, which provides federal grants to support the operation of small shipyards across the country. Both Washburn & Doughty and Boothbay Harbor Shipyard have benefited from the program in the past.

Senator King's complete schedule for Friday, April 15, is as follows:

10 a.m. — Tour, Washburn & Doughty Shipyard 7 Enterprise Street, East Boothbay.

11 a.m. — Tour, Boothbay Harbor Shipyard 120 Commercial Street, Boothbay Harbor.

2:45 p.m. — Remarks, 19th Annual Maine Pain Symposium Point Lookout Resort & Conference Center 67 Atlantic Highway, Northport.
