CAMDEN — American Legion Post 30 is inviting the public to join members on Sept.16, at 1 p.m. for a short ceremony for the disposal of unserviceable flags. People are encouraged to take their old and unserviceable flags for proper disposal if they have any. If dropping off flags, be at the post no later than 12:30 p.m. for the flag(s) to be prepared and included.

The Ceremony for Disposal of Unserviceable Flags is outlined in Resolution No. 440, passed by the 19th National Convention of The American Legion in New York on Sept. 20-23, 1937. The ceremony has been an integral part of American Legion ritual since that date.

Immediately following the service, the post will hold an open house until 3 p.m. Members of the post will be available to speak to the public about the Legion's mission and how our small post blends into the community and its community service.

Post 30 is inviting veterans to join the ceremony and to talk about the possibility of joining the Legion. Post 30 has a small membership base and is looking for the many local veterans to stop by and see if perhaps the Legion family can benefit them.

Snacks and American Legion information will be available for everyone as they tour the facility. For more information, call Frank Carr, Post Commander, at 236-3310 or Jeff Sukeforth, Post adjutant, at 691-2270.

The rain date for the event will be Sept.17 at the same time frame.
