240 Strings concert at the Belfast Free Library

    BELFAST — The classical music trio 240 Strings will perform a free concert at the Belfast Free Library on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Belfast Free Library.

    240 Strings is Anastasia Antonacos, piano; with Patrick Doane, violin; and Ben Noyes, cello.

    The trio will perform Piano Trio in G Major, Gypsy Rondo (Haydn), Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor (Schumann), and Piano Trio in A Minor (Ravel). Maurice Ravel

    Pianist Anastasia Antonacos has given notable performances around the world as a solo recitalist and chamber musician. She has played in Greece, Russia, France, and Belgium, as well as various places in the U.S. She has won first place at the International Young Artist Music Competition in Bulgaria. She lives with her husband and daughter in Portland, where she was named one of the 100 Most Influential People of Portland by the Phoenix.

    Violinist, composer and teacher, Patrick Doane earned his degree in Violin Performance from Juilliard in 2006. His multifaceted career includes performances alongside diverse and renowned artists such as Savion Glover, Keith Lockhart, Alice and Ravi Coltrane, Mark Dresser, and members of the Muir, Flux, and Portland String Quartets, and the Indie music bands Beirut, Wakey! Wakey!, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

    Cellist Benjamin Noyes, originally from Maine, studied in Boston before leaving for San Francisco at age 15 to participate in San Francisco Conservatory’s preparatory division. He won numerous awards while attending SOTA, an arts magnet high school in San Francisco, including top prizes in NFAA’s ARTS Recognition Competition, National Federation of Music Club Competition, and the National ASTA competition. After graduating, he was selected by Yo-Yo Ma to perform as soloist and recitalist throughout China, with the Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzen and Shanghai Symphony Orchestras.
