13 compete in Waldoboro Pitch, Hit, Run competition

WALDOBORO — Begley Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex was the site of the Pitch, Hit and Run event Sunday, May 20 that saw 13 athletes participating across three divisions for the opportunity to qualify for the sectional competition. 

The three divisions were 9/10 girls, 9/10 boys and 11/12 boys. Each division could crown up to four different champions, overall champion (highest combined score) and individual event champions with the highest score in each event (pitching, hitting and running). 

All the champions from the Waldoboro event will be competing at the sectional competition in Bangor on June 3, according to Waldoboro Recreation Department Director Marcus Benner. Overall champions of the sectional event in Bangor will have their scores compared to others in the region to see if they qualify to compete in the next round at Fenway Park, according to Benner.
