On Thursday, November 20 at 6:30pm at the Colonial Theatre at 163 High Street in downtown Belfast, Maine Farmland Trust and the Belfast Co-op are hosting a screening of the new  “Growing Local” film. Ellen Sabina of Maine Farmland Trust will moderate a post-film panel discussion with farmers from our region so that we can further explore the barriers and opportunities to taking our local food movement to the next level here in Waldo County. There is a $5 suggested donation at the door.

The locavore movement is old news. “Growing Local” takes the conversation to the next level. While “buying local” is on the rise, these three poignant vignettes make clear that small farms and access to locally produced food is not a sure thing.
