Friday, July 31, is the Belfast Co-op's monthly 'Love Local Day' (last Fri/mo), celebrating Maine's bounty. Kate deLutio of Maineland Granola (Morrill) will provide free samples of her handmade granola bars between 11am and 3pm, which will be discounted 10% all day. They come in six unique flavors: Blueberry Lemon Basil, Honey Pine Rosemary, Cranberry Orange Ginger, Maple Mango Fennel, Chocolate Pine Rosemary, and Maine Mocha
The Love Local Day lunch special highlights local ingredients:
BLT sandwich with Maine Family Farms (Portland) nitrate-free bacon; J and C Family Farm (Thorndike) lettuce, Common Sense Farm (Unity) tomatoes, Raye's Mustard (Eastport) dijonnaise, Borealis Breads (Waldoboro) Italian bread, with potato fries and a Morse's (Waldoboro) pickle; $6.50.
ALL Maine products will be discounted 10% all day. Over the past year, Co-op customers purchased over $2 million in local (Maine-grown, raised, harvested and produced) products! The Co-op stocks over 2,200 Maine-made products.
