Indigenous Solidarity: Decolonization, Herb Gardens & Free Clinics

Event has passed

How are herbalism, farming, and Indigenous struggles related? How is Maine connected to forced removal of the Dine people in Arizona? Why does Fireweed Herbals grow all these herbs to give them away to people they have never met? Come learn and discuss!

Sun. April 19, 6pm – Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. Belfast

August Sender of Fireweed Herbals (Waldo, ME) and Lroy Meryhew of the Stone Cabin Collective (Marshfield, VT) will present a slideshow and discuss the connections between the history of colonization in the northeastern and southwestern United States, focusing on the Black Mesa Reservation in Arizona. Focus will be on a free clinic on the reservation, an herb garden in Maine, and how all these struggles and support models are connected.
