Friday, April 24, is the Belfast Co-op's monthly 'Love Local Day' (last Fri/mo), celebrating Maine's bounty. The Troy Howard Middle School Garden Project (Belfast) will staff an informational table between 11:30am and 3pm, and is providing the swiss chard, grown in their greenhouse, for our lunch special!
The Love Local Day lunch special highlights local ingredients:
- Swiss chard steamed with lemon vinegar, swiss chard raw salad with goat milk yogurt dressing, and swiss chard leaf dumplings; $7.95.
ALL Maine products will be discounted 10% all day. Over the past year, Co-op customers purchased nearly $2 million in local (Maine-grown, raised, harvested and produced) products. The Co-op stocks over 2,200 Maine-made products.
The community-owned Belfast Co-op, open 7:30am-8pm daily, is located at 123 High Street in downtown Belfast. Everyone can shop, anyone can join! For further information, visit belfast.coop or call (207) 338-2532.
