New Hope for Women, University College Rockland, and New Ventures Maine

are co-sponsoring a forum entitled Getting Through to The Other Side: 

Nurturing and Guiding Children Exposed To Domestic Violence, from 4:00 - 

6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11 at University College Rockland.

 

Steve Rowe, President and CEO of Maine Community Foundation and former

Maine Attorney General, and Sue Mackey Andrews, co-founder of Maine

Resilience Network and winner of 2015 Giraffe Award for " sticking out her

neck" for Maine children, will deliver keynote addresses.

 

Designed for healthcare providers, educators, mental health professionals, parents, and caregivers, the forum will focus on strategies that support parents in their efforts to help children exposed to domestic violence. With an overview of ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences Study) forming the framework, attendees will gain an understanding of best practices in helping children and teens recover and thrive.

 

Advanced registration is required and is available to 72 participants on a

first-come, first-served basis at (insert link to Chip's registration site). Every

participant will receive a care package of community resources, and access to an array

of helpful background information on the event's info-site. Staff from Hope for Women, New Ventures Maine, and University College Rockland will be on hand for support and to answer questions.
