Stepping Up the Pace

Our Democratic candidates have been campaigning all summer going door-to-door and getting out to parades and local events.  They have been going since spring really if you count all the time spent getting $5 checks from voters in their districts in order to qualify as Clean Election candidates for the legislature.

Now, with Labor Day well behind us, they are stepping up the pace by attending numerous Meet-and-Greets, forums and debates as well.

The next of these is Wednesday September 17.  The Union Area Chamber of Commerce will conduct its customary Candidates’ Night at the Union Town Office.  At 5:30 p.m. attendees may meet and enjoy refreshments with candidates.  Promptly at 6 p.m. the Chamber organizers will begin to present their questions to the candidates so the public may compare candidates’ positions on issues of interest to the Chamber.

All candidates on the ballot in Union, Washington, Appleton, Hope and Warren have been invited.  Both candidates for Maine Senate District 13, which includes the Town of Washington, will send statements to be read to the attendees.

Dave Miramant will attend.  A former House member, he is the Democratic candidate for Senate District 12, which includes all of Knox County except the Town of Washington.

Incumbent Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison, who is running for re-election, will attend. David Sinclair, Democratic candidate for District Attorney in prosecutorial District 6, which serves Knox, Lincoln, Waldo and Sagadahoc Counties, has been invited also.

Among other candidates who will participate will be unenrolled Maine House candidates Gary Sukeforth, running in H.D. 95 to represent Appleton, Hope, Warren and the eastern half of Union and Jeff Evangelos, running in H.D. 91 to represent Friendship, Waldoboro, Washington and the western half of Union.  There is no Democratic candidate in either of these two house districts.

This event is free, and everyone is welcome.  The Union Town Office is at 567 Common Road in Union Village.  Democrats have great candidates, and they are working hard to connect with voters and win their races.  Please show your support and appreciation by coming out to this and other events.  Candidates love to see supporting faces in the crowd. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
