Event has passed
On Sundays during the Lenten Season, from March 9 to April 13, the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden, will be hosting a Lenten program designed to deepen understanding of this period of repentance leading to Easter.
On Sundays at about 11:30 am, following the 10:30 worship service, parishioners and guests are all invited to a fellowship gathering where soup and bread will be served In addition to the traditional snack food. The light fare is in keeping with Lenten self-denial, and should sustain those who choose to stay longer for the short dramas read by church members.
The readings center around two-person encounters between biblical characters over the period from the Crucifixion of Christ and his Resurrection. All the conversations occur before the reality of Easter dawns on the characters. A discussion period will follow the readings.
The programs are expected to be brief, possibly only 15 minutes, dependent on how lively the discussions are.
