This wee Irish fairy is called Sinann, based on legend of the origins of The River Shannon, a river filled by the Otherworld. It was named after a young lady called Sinann, who happened to be the grand-daughter of Lir, god of the sea. She decided to visit Connla’s Well and ate the fruits of the Tree of Knowledge, although she knew it was forbidden. As a result, the waters of the well rose up, carrying her out to sea and drowning her there. So the River Shannon was formed.

Check out our latest tiny artwork. A two-inch watercolor portrait of Megunticook Lake sits on a tiny wooden easel. This postage stamp view surrounded by mountains, most notably, Maiden Cliff, as it rises dramatically across the lake, comes from the imagination of local Mainer Justin Stephens, a self-taught artist. All of his life he has climbed these mountains, swum this lake and spent many a summer day right here at this very spot in the Fernald's Neck Preserve.
