Registration for Summer and Fall Courses to Open at University College at Rockland

Thu, 03/02/2017 - 5:15am

University College at Rockland announces that registration for courses in summer and fall will open later in March.  Degree seeking students may register on March 13 slightly ahead of non-degree students, including high school aspirations, who will have access on March 20.

There will be three choices for summer session: session I is for 7 weeks and runs from May 22 through July 7; session II runs from July 10 through August 25; and, one continuous session III runs from May 22 through August 25.

According to University College at Rockland Director, Deborah Meehan, "The 7-week sessions allow students to condense course work into shorter periods of time while the full summer session spreads the course work over the summer.”

Meehan noted that although the summer schedule is smaller than that for fall and spring, "There are still over 600 courses available in summer from all 7 campuses of the University of Maine System when you combine all teaching modalities of face-to-face, interactive television, videoconference and online instruction."

Meehan noted that University College at Rockland welcomes students from other colleges in the summer who are working or vacationing in Maine.

“In addition to our regular student population, we welcome students from away in the summer who need to pick up some college credits,” she added.

Fall registration for courses beginning August 28 also opens on these same dates. The fall schedule includes over 1100 courses from the 7 University of Maine System campuses and includes classes in art, business, sciences, education, English, justice studies, psychology and many more.

Students do not need to be in a degree program in order to take classes.

Meehan noted that some courses do fill so there are advantages to acting early. Free academic advising appointments for new and returning students are available by calling University College at Rockland at 596-6906.
