Another first Saturday of the month, another public supper at John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden.  At 5:30 pm on Saturday, March 7, the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden, will host a public supper.  Church cooks will prepare home-baked beans and coleslaw while church members make their specialty pies, salads and casseroles for a tasty Maine meal.   Close to one-hundred folks are expected to attend the meal, where the food is served family-style at long tables, providing plenty of time for chatting with friends and making new ones.  Come for the traditional Maine food at the affordable price of $8 per person, discounts for children under 12.

Traditional New England dishes will be served family style, and regardless of childhood memories of waiting for dessert, diners actually select their portion of homemade pie (chocolate, cherry, mince, blueberry, lemon, etc.) as they enter the hall -- and sometimes eat it first.  Baked beans, sliced ham and coleslaw are the standard fare, but added to that are varieties of casseroles such clam, corn, scalloped potatoes, American chop suey, chicken and rice, macaroni and cheese and hot dog slices in barbecue sauce.  The salad selection usually includes three-bean, green leaf, and an array of salads made with jello. Come for great food and fellowship at the low price of $8 per person, discounts for children under 12.
