Public Supper at John Street United Methodist Church Feb. 6 at 5:30
Event has passed
Weather permitting, the kitchen and dining room teams of the John Street United Methodist Church plan to host their first monthly public supper of 2016 at 5:30 pm. It’s a new year, but diners may count on the traditional array of fresh salads, excellent home baked casseroles and delicious pies. Each month there are a few delicious surprises served along with the tasty slow cooked baked beans, clam and corn casseroles, macaroni and cheese and ground beef and chicken dishes. Typical salads include crisp garden, oriental, bean, cole slaw and potato. Then there are the pies – homemade – including blueberry, pumpkin, lemon merengue cherry, apple and mince. Pies are selected as one enters the dining room, with most people saving their slice for dessert, but quite a few folks can’t resist eating dessert first.
Serving is family style at long tables where friends and strangers chat and joke and entire families find something for everyone. Cost is $8 per person, $5 for children under age 18.
