Have you heard of the #optoutside and #bluefriday movements?  These are movements I discovered on Instagram in response to Black Friday.  Instead of spending the day in line with crowds shopping get outside and enjoy Maine.  Dulse & Rugosa is a business and we are so grateful when someone purchases from us.  As a small farm and ocean based business we are also deeply connected to nature.  We have noticed how much trash is littering our beautiful state and planet.  A lot of it is single use plastic.  Single use plastic is plastic used only once, water bottles, coffee cups and lids, etc.  I pick up washed ashore plastic almost daily on my walks with my dog so I always have this internal struggle with retail.  We have bills, property taxes and we really like to eat.  All this takes $$$$$$.  We’re also aware of “casual consumerism” purchasing products that aren’t sustainable.  This holiday shop sustainably, support small, indie and local businesses.  Your money continues to work even when it’s left your wallet.  

And find some time to get outside.  Take a bag with you and pick up some trash.  It’s good for you and our world.
