Open Farm Day at Erickson Fields Preserve in Rockport

Tue, 07/22/2014 - 5:00am

On Sunday July 27 from 10am-3pm don't miss your opportunity to visit Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Erickson Fields Preserve in Rockport on Maine's Open Farm Day. You will learn about all the great agricultural related activities happening at Erickson and meet the Teen Agricultural Crew while touring the gardens. Farm and program staff will be on site for you to speak with, a live acoustic band will play (one of the Teen Ag. Crew), and samples of grilled and fresh veggies from the garden available.  Come and revel in the beautiful pastoral vistas and gain a better understanding of the many agricultural initiatives at this conserved farm property. Kids activities available too, so bring the family!

Many farms around the state of Maine will open their doors to the community on Open Farm Day, so check the Get Real Get Maine website for other farms to visit. Open Farm Day is an initiative by the Maine Department of Agriculture to have more people visit their local farms and learn about foods and goods that are available.

Erickson Fields Preserve is a 93-acre conserved farm owned and managed by Maine Coast Heritage Trust and has been designated a Forever Farm by Maine Farmland Trust. Erickson Fields Preserve is located at 124 West St. (Rt. 90) in Rockport (across from the Camden-Rockport Elementary School).
