The full moon rises over the beautiful coastline and islands of Rockland, Maine.</p>
<p>Photography Tip:  Photographing the full moon is tricky.  It can be hard to find a perfect exposure setting that shows detail both in the face of the moon and elsewhere in the image.</p>
<p>Graduated neutral density filters, or compositing together multiple frames, are sometimes the best solutions.  I used both of these options here to create this image.  With or without extra tricks though my best advise is to shoot your full moon shots at sunset or sunrise so that the difference in brightness between the moon and sky is less pronounced than it will be once the world goes dark.  Plus, the extra light will keep your foregrounds from going inky black.</p>
