Lead paint: when cutting corners endangers your health

It’s a familiar scene. Painters scraping paint off an old New England house. Chips and dust flying everywhere. Only look closely; there is no plastic sheet to catch all of the debris. No one is in a hazard suit. The painters don’t even know this house has lead paint, perhaps because they are a small self-employed operation or they’re just trying to cut corners.

But those lead chips and dust in the air can seriously endanger your health, your children and your pets.

Last year, the EPA took action against 75 painting companies across the country for violating the federal law since 2010 requiring professional painters — even landlords or anyone who makes money off renovation — to take a class and get certified in lead safety. Two-thirds of them hadn’t even bothered to take the class and get certified.

That’s why you can trust North Atlantic Painting. All of our painters are fully trained, EPA lead-certified and OSHA-10 certified.

We take you, your house and your health very seriously when it comes to lead.

We are currently booking interior work into fall and winter. To see how we can transform your house in a cost-effective way, call us for a free estimate at 207-236-0703 or visit www.mainecoatings.com
