John Street United Methodist Church Public Supper April 5
Event has passed
The John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden, will hold its next public supper at 5:30 pm, Saturday, April 5. Patrons who attend these meals each month will attest that the choice of dishes is different each time they attend, but the basics are the same. For example, as diners arrive, they choose a slice of pie, but the kinds of freshly baked pies offered is not the same each month. To start the meal off, at the appointed hour, a “groaner” joke is told and the food is blessed.
As with the pies, the list of home-made bubbly casseroles is not always identical. However, there are a few popular varieties that are on the tables most months, and are always missed if not available, such as the corn and clam casseroles. Salads range from tossed, to specialty vegetables, to the popular jello and whipped cream styles.
All these items are in addition to the basic church-baked beans, ham slices and fresh coleslaw, all brought to the tables by the serving crew.
Tickets are sold at the door for $8 per adult,$5 for children under age 13. Organizers recommend that the public arrive early to be assured seating.
