Healthy Basics: How Foods Fight Heart Disease

Join chef and Food For Life instructor MiMi McGee to learn how certain diet patterns can help avoid or reverse heart disease. It takes a powerful diet to actually remove the hard plaque forming in the arterial walls after years of eating high-fat diets, but research has shown it can be done. This class will show you how! Part of the Healthy Basics cooking and nutrition class series, which focuses on practical and low-budget cooking, meal planning and grocery shopping skills and tips. Participants are invited to attend the whole series or pick and choose! Series includes:

 

The Power Plate, focusing on general concepts behind healthy eating habits, Wednesday, September 30, 6 – 7 p.m.

How Foods Fight Diabetes, Wednesday, October 7, 6 – 7 p.m.

Foods for a Healthy Weight, Wednesday, October 14, 6 – 7 p.m.

How Foods Fight Heart Disease, Wednesday, October 21, 6 – 7 p.m.

 

In addition, students will be invited to participate in an optional tour of a local grocery store (time to be determined). Class cost is by donation; suggested donations are $15 per session or $50 for the series.
