Have You Considered Lasik?

Up and at 'em this morning. Today is our "late day" where we take late appointments to help with those that work all the time. We also get to enjoy the extra amounts of daylight.

This past week we have had the pleasure of seeing some refractive surgery post-ops.  Their ages averaged mid 20's, mid 40's and early 50's. They were all able to see lines on the 20/15 and one was even reading the 20/10 line. Later this week I have a patient coming in for a follow-up to a combination procedure of cataract surgery plus Lasik.  We are hoping to minimize her use of glasses altogether.

There has been some jargon of lowering the normal value of vision from 20/20 to maybe a lower value like 20/15, because of the new technology being used in eye surgery and the newer wavefront lenses we talked about last time. Some circles believe the limiting factor of 20/20 may be the optics we have relied on to fix the problem.  In academia settings, they use an altogether different chart, that uses logarithmic values and spatial frequency values, instead of our standard Snellen values.

With Spring coming this is a great time of year to just be able and get a pair of sunglasses and to enjoy traveling, swimming, boating, golfing, etc. without having to rely on spectacles or contacts.
