Brian Schortz, General Manager at Evergreen Home Performance, and three Evergreen Production Managers – Nate Spectre, Michael Bunker, and Byran Pringle – will all attend a Specialty Certificate Program in Leadership this month.

The four day course, sponsored by MEMIC, is designed to help organizations fully integrate workplace safety and business goals by supporting the leadership skills of managers and supervisors. Evergreen has an excellent record of keeping crew members safe as they install insulation and other efficiency upgrades, but working in unfinished spaces like basements and attics demands constant attention.

“Front line supervisors are a key to an organization's safety success,” says MEMIC Manager Randy Klatt. “They know the people and the job and are in a position to control behavior and site conditions. Yet they often have little training concerning human interactions, motivation, leadership, and other skills needed to be a truly effective supervisor.”

Evergreen’s supervisors have already benefited from communications training that focused on customer service, and look forward to making the connection between clear, responsive leadership and workplace safety. “It’s a time to review of my own strengths and weaknesses,” said Production Manager Bryan Pringle, "and to nudge my leadership style along.”
