“Eating from the Maine Landscape” in Belfast

Event has passed

On Thursday, May 28 at 6:30pm in the Belfast Free Library, there will be a free presentation with local chef Frank Giglio of Three Lily Farm (Thorndike) about incorporating nutrient dense wild foods into your diet. From harvesting to preparing, he will share some of his favorite local wild plants, share samples, and provide recipes to take home.

During the growing season, the Maine landscape offers a diverse variety of wild edibles that with a little education, can be easily incorporated into one’s diet. These vigorous plants are some of the first to emerge after a long cold winter, and grow without any need of human intervention. Consuming wild plants provides us with a deeper connection to the rest of nature and it is through education and sustainable harvesting practices that we can bring the wild back into our bodies.

Frank Giglio is a Maine-based chef who runs Three Lily Farm in Thorndike where he guides and mentors students across the globe about traditionally based diets, fermentation, and rewilding your diet. Frank was the featured chef in Dr. Alejandro Junger’s "Clean Eats" cookbook which made the NY Times best seller list in May 2014.

The Belfast Free Library is located at 106 High Street in downtown Belfast.
