The Union Democratic Committee and the Badger Café will sponsor an afternoon with local candidates from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday October 21.  All voters are invited to attend this informal gathering where they will hear candidates present their positions and strengths, answer questions and discuss issues.  No doubt there will be a lot of chat about who lives in which Maine House District in Union now that the town has been divided between House Districts 91 and 95.  There will be a cash bar.

Maine Senate candidate for District 12, Dave Miramant of Camden, will attend.  District 12 represents all of Knox County except the Town of Washington.

Two candidates for the new Maine House District 95 will attend.  They are Gary Sukeforth and Will Neils, both of Appleton.  H.D. 95 represents the eastern half of Union, Warren, Appleton and Hope. 

Incumbent Representative Jeff Evangelos of Friendship will attend.  He is running in H.D. 91, which represents the western half of Union, Washington and Friendship in Knox County and Waldoboro in Lincoln County.

Tickets will be available for the Knox County Democratic Committee’s Great Campaign Season Travel Raffle.  First prize is a $4000 travel voucher to be used for or toward the trip of your choice.  Second prize is a 45-minute glider ride over western Penobscot Bay with Maine Senate candidate Dave Miramant.  Dave owns Spirit Soaring Glider Rides, which operates out of Owls Head.

Tickets are $20 each, and no more than 1000 will be sold.  Think of a ticket as a donation to support the Knox County Democrats’ Headquarters volunteers and their candidate support activities with a good chance of winning a nice prize for yourself.
