The Our Town Belfast Street Party (now in its seventh year) is looked forward to by families all over Waldo County and beyond as that wild and wonderful first Monday in August when High Street in Belfast experiences a pedestrian take-over complete with carnival rides, tons of food, and music all night.  Admission remains free for anyone who wishes to attend, with tickets sold for activities like the climbing wall, bucking bronco, bungee jump, and (new this year) person-sized hamster ball course.  Wristbands are available for unlimited use of the bounce houses and rat race in the brand new children’s area on Church Street.  That’s right, an ever-growing event, the Belfast Street Party is now expanding from High Street up to Church Street (between Key Bank and the American Legion Hall).  This new area, dedicated for kid-specific fun, will include its own stage with all-night DJ Erik Klausmeyer spinning tunes and keeping the crowd going.

Down on the High Street Stage, in front of Belfast City Hall, returning favorites Captain Obvious and Don Nickerson and Country mist will entertain at 5pm and 7pm respectively, with a break for a live performance of the national anthem in between.  Mica Einhorn, whose family lives in Belfast and winters in Miami, has sung the Star Spangled Banner at professional sporting events with the Miami Heat, Dolphins and Florida Marlins, and will be performing the anthem at this year’s Street Party!

The evening closes out on High Street with DJ Matt Bixby from 9-10:30pm.  In addition to music and rides, attendees can look forward to great food from dozens local vendors, family friendly activities, games, and giveaways by local businesses and nonprofits, and a beer garden for those of age hosted by Rollie’s Bar & Grill.

This year’s Street Party is sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank, Belfast Area Cohousing and Eco Village, Belfast Hannaford, Bluestreak, the City of Belfast, Front Street Shipyard, and Renys.

The Street Party is hosted by Our Town Belfast, the local Main Street program, which seeks to foster economic health and human happiness for all who live, work, and play in Belfast’s historic downtown.
