Add the supper at the John Street United Methodist September 5 to your Windjammer Weekend Experience

At 5:30 pm on Saturday, September 5, the main course will be put on the tables at the monthly homemade New England supper prepared by cooks at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden.  The August supper attracted an overflow crowd, so to insure a seat, diners should arrive early.  Another reason to come early is to view the array of homemade pie slices and select one before taking a seat.  Food is served family style at long tables where you are likely to see folks you know or meet new people as you share a meal.  Last month a woman from Cushing found a place to sit, then looked up to see a friend from Rockland across from her.  They had a good time reminiscing about a road trip the two took to Nebraska to view birds as they enjoyed their meal.

The menu is built around home-baked beans and cold ham, rolls and coffee, tea, punch or water to drink.  Among the many choices of hot casseroles are chicken and rice, American chop suey, corn casserole, clam casserole, beef and vegetable and macaroni and cheese.  Salads include green, cole slaw, fresh tomato, potato, rice and peas, spinach, fruit, and jellied.

Cost for the meal is $8 adults, $5 children.
